The heart behind Tamika

Tamika brings medication and health records together with conversation and the joy of growing a garden and caring for fish.

I hope it can ease a little of the burden of treatment and bring small moments of joy to everyday life. But I did not begin with such a broad ambition. I started making this app simply because I wanted to help my mother.

In May 2026, my mother, Tamiko, was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer. After surgery, she began chemotherapy.

She worked hard to write about her health and treatment in the diary she had received from the hospital. But side effects, including numbness in her hands, made writing difficult. Eventually, the entries stopped.

I wanted my mother to be able to record
her day in her own words.

Even if writing by hand was difficult, perhaps an app could help. That thought led me to create a way for everyday conversation to become a record of the day.

There are days when even talking feels difficult. On better days, it can be easy to forget medication or to make a note.

I wanted to make an app people would naturally want to open, on either kind of day.

Perhaps a pleasant conversation brings you back for a little chat. Or you wonder how much your vegetables or fish have grown and come to see them. While you are there, you can check your medication or leave a small note about your day.

And it is okay to have days when you cannot open the app. Your plants will not wither if you do not visit every day.

I hope Tamika can be a companion in the everyday lives of people going through treatment.
